One person was taken to a hospital today after an apparent construction accident in west Houston that originally was reported as a building collapse.

Few details were available about the accident, which occurred about 10:30 a.m. at a site near the Katy Freeway at Park Ten Boulevard.

Although the initial call to the Houston Fire Department reported a possible building collapse with people trapped, most units dispatched to the site were quickly called off.

One ambulance was sent to the address and transported one person to a hospital, said District Chief Tommy Dowdy, but no more information was available this afternoon.

"I think it's going to turn out to be more of a construction accident than a building collapse," Dowdy said.

He said he had not received further word on exactly what happened and what is under construction at the site.
